Revised H1N1 Vaccine Availability for Week Three
No Vaccine Available for children 4 and under
The Central District Health Department (CDHD) has revised its estimates of vaccine availability for the Point of Dispensing (POD) clinic scheduled for Saturday November 7th. There will be no vaccine available for children under 4 years of age because of district efforts to push vaccine to pediatricians and other medical offices. More than 2800 doses of Sanofi Pasteur-manufactured vaccine for children 6 months of age and older has been sent to medical offices in CDHD’s area of jurisdiction. What remains for the Saturday POD is Novartis-manufactured vaccine licensed for children 4 years and above. As a result CDHD will not be able to offer H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine to the youngest children on Saturday. In addition, no nasal spray will be available at this weekend’s POD, as that vaccine is being reserved for the school-based vaccination programs set to begin in Mountain Home and Kuna school districts next week.
The POD clinic at the former K-Mart store, 1001 Park Center Boulevard will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., unless vaccine supplies are exhausted before 6:00 p.m.
