GET READY FOR FLU SEASON
CDHD OFFERS WALK-IN FLU CLINICS
On Tuesday October 16th the Central District Health Department (CDHD) will start offering walk-in flu clinics for adults. The flu clinics will continue through Friday October 19th. More clinics will be scheduled as more vaccine is delivered from suppliers. The clinics October 16 – 19 are targeting adults, especially those in high-risk groups like the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and those who may have contact with high-risk groups of people. The cost of the flu vaccine will be $25.00. Elderly adults, and those with chronic illnesses, are advised to also get the pneumonia vaccine, which will be available for $46 and can be administered at the same time as the flu vaccine.
Hours for the clinics will be 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday and 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Friday October 19th.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expects there to be an ample supply of flu vaccine this year. October or November is the best time to get a flu shot, but you can still get vaccinated in December or later. Flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May, but usually peaks in February.
Information on flu vaccine availability will also be posted to the CDHD website at cdhd.idaho.gov. For more information on the seasonal flu vaccine call the Immunizations office at Central District Health Department Flu Hotline at 208-321-2222.
