Meth is the top drug of choice and the #1 illegal drug problem in Idaho. The financial and social consequences of Meth abuse are devastating. Meth is increasingly gaining popularity among Idaho's most vulnerable - teens and young adults.

The Reality of Meth in Idaho

  • 1 in 5 Idaho teens sees little or no risk in trying Meth once or twice.
  • 38% of Idaho young adults and 25% of Idaho teens believe that Meth helps you lose weight.
  • 80% of the child placements by Health and Welfare are directly related to drug abuse with Meth being the most prevalent.
  • 1 in 34 Idaho men are in prison or on probation or parole - 75% of offenders with a drug problem say that Meth is their drug of choice.
  • 63% of Idaho felony drug court participants indicate that Meth is their drug of choice.
  • $66 million is the amount the state of Idaho spends annually to house male inmates who admit to having a Meth problem.
